Hypnotherapy for Phobias
Hypnotherapy for phobias often involves discovering, through communicating with the unconscious mind, what past experiences the phobic client has had that have contributed to the problem. The next step would be to resolve the negative emotions attached to the memories of those experiences. It isn't the experience itself which causes the phobia, but the mind's interpretation of the events. When the negative emotion (usually fear) attached to the memory is removed and the memory neutralised, the unconscious mind is then able to come to a different conclusion about the object of their phobia i.e. they are not in danger when in it's presence.
Hypnotherapy for Stopping Smoking
Hypnotherapy for stopping smoking involves convincing the unconscious mind that it does not believe that smoking is helpful to them in any way at all. Once this has been achieved, the desire to smoke evaporates. Many smokers consciously believe that they already know that smoking cigarettes is not helping them in any way and think that it is "just a habit". However, the conscious mind does not always know what the unconscious mind believes! One of the most interesting things about being hypnotised is finding out what your deepest thoughts and beliefs are. In a normal waking state we are conscious of only a fraction of what we really think and feel.

Although trained in the usual hypnotherapy methods for smoking cessation I have gone on to develop my own-even more successful- treatment method, based on thorough research into nicotine addiction, learning and behaviour.
Side Effects
There are no known unpleasant side effects relating to being hypnotised. Often people report positive side effects such as feeling more relaxed in general e.g. after a stopping smoking treatment or hypnotherapy for phobias. People often report improvements to their sleep even when they haven't come specifically for a sleep disorder.
